Private Patient Rooms added at hospital
Washington County Memorial Hospital announces completed construction project

Potosi, MO, October ― Washington County Memorial Hospital, is pleased to announce the addition of 4 private patient rooms for inpatient care.  The hospital began a construction project in early February to upgrade the hospital wide sprinkler system and life safety plan.  Phase 2 of this project is to add 4 new private patient rooms and 9 new negative pressure rooms.  The overall bed count will remain 25 and this construction will reduce the number of semi-private rooms for our patients.

“Washington County Memorial Hospital is striving to be your first choice for healthcare and fulfill our mission to increase the health and well-being of our community.  The governing board believes one way to achieve this is through capital and infrastructure improvements.”  says board chairman, Melvin Warden.

CEO, Michele Meyer, says, “Patients will experience a healing environment with a team that is always compassionate about exceeding their expectations.  Our interdisciplinary team of hospitalists, nurses, therapy, and social services are here for you when you need us.”

The new private rooms are over 1,000 square feet and will be ADA accessible with private restroom and shower for the patient’s comfort and healing process. The addition of negative pressure rooms will specifically address ventilation upgrades for patients requiring isolation (this includes COVID patients). Negative pressure means that the room’s air exchanges are turned over quickly and allows for optimal patient management.

This is a $1.7 million project in direct response to COVID-19.  Washington County Memorial Hospital is dedicated to maintaining healthcare delivery capacity 24 hours a day; 7 days a week, treating confirmed or suspected cases of coronavirus, and preparing for future possible coronavirus cases.  In addition to this construction project, the hospital was able to add 4 negative pressure rooms in the Emergency Department in November 2020.

Washington County Memorial Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital who strives to maintain best practices and a full continuum of care for all patients in our community and surrounding communities.  WCMH is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and provides a wide array of support services for all patient needs.  The longstanding community hospital is a cornerstone for quality, compassionate healthcare.  Our healthcare family is committed to your family right here, close to home.
