At Washington County Memorial Hospital, we have a two-bed testing facility located in the respiratory department. Both rooms are private with full-sized beds and decorated to mimic a bedroom in a home. The Center began performing sleep studies in 1996. We offer pediatric testing as well as adult.

Our sleep equipment is state of the art. A sleep technician is located in an adjacent room and monitors all sleep activities by computer.

We offer:

• POLYSOMNOGRAPHY (PSG) testing that lasts 6-8 hours to diagnose OSA, central sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome and other problems.
• SPLIT NIGHT SLEEP STUDY occurs the same night as PSG as a treatment if the patient qualifies.
• CPAP TITRATION is recommended for patients that do not qualify for a split night study. In this case, after PSG, the patient returns for treatment. Settings are adjusted through the course of the night to treat the disorder.
• MULTIPLE SLEEP LATENCY TEST (MSLT) lasts 6-8 hours of one night until 4 pm the following day. It involves a basic PSG plus a series of 20 minute naps every 2 hours during the day. It is used to test for narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnolence.
